Sundancer Australian Album Tour With Special Guests The Protectors

Posted on the 7th May, 2009

First there was the new single Python for a Pillow, which the band threw at radio as they jumped on a plane to go overseas touring Toronto, LA, New York and Japan including their showcases at SXSW in Austin. As they land back in Australia shops are stocking up on their new album Sundancer, which is due on the shelf May 8th.

Python for a Pillow was Rage indie clip of the week last week! You can check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjQZeTITyZw

A big fat national tour makes sense as the next move out of Fumes head quarters…so here it is!

The Fumes will be joined by Newcastle outfit The Protectors, the boys have built a reputation as being one of the most intense live acts in the country, their visceral live performances have earned them numerous major support slots including Mickey Avalon and Eagles of Death Metal www.myspace.com/theprotectors.

And here are a few things people are saying about The Fumes new sounds…….

“Thunderous grunt rock from a dynamic duo – “
BEAT MAGAZINE

“With The bluesy drums-and-geetar two-piece now pretty devalued, possibly by weight of numbers, The Fumes are still one of the better examples of the form. If you think they’ve been absent, you’re somewhat right although supports to QOTSA and doing Japan’s Fuji Festival have put them in front of people in places other than your local. The two bits of their art hereon show variety is possible within the format. Python…. Is straight-line beaty, while Devil At A Tuckstop is a Robert Johnson shuffle for a trip down the Hume. “
THE DRUM MEDIA

“A while back a friend's band was supporting The Fumes and I was trailing along for the night. As my buddies band finished up, the tiny suburban pub's crowd swelled considerably. By the time they took the stage, the Sydney duo -singer and guitarist Steve Merry and drummer Joel Battersby - were a couple of bobbing heads at one end of a foaming mass of people. And they tore the place to shreds.”

Sundancer is in store May 8th 2009 through MGM Distribution.
